What GoDoctor uses
GoDoctor keeps cookie use deliberately minimal. By default we set only strictly-necessary storage that the site needs to work:
- Theme preference — your light/dark choice (stored locally as
om-theme) so the site honours it on return. - Consent choice — your cookie decision (stored locally as
om-cookie-consent) so we don’t ask again on every visit. - Session — to keep you signed in and your session secure while you use the Service.
Analytics and other non-essential cookies are set only after you choose “Accept all” in the consent banner. Until then, no non-essential or analytics storage is enabled.
Categories of cookies
The cookies and storage we may use fall into these categories:
| Category | Purpose | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Run the site and keep it secure — theme preference, your consent choice, and session/sign-in. | Not required (essential) |
| Analytics / performance | Help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it — aggregate, non-essential. | Set only with consent (“Accept all”) |
| Functional (non-essential) | Remember optional preferences that improve your experience but are not required for the site to work. | Set only with consent |
We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites.
Managing & withdrawing consent
You can control cookies in two ways:
- The consent banner— when you first visit, choose “Accept all” or “Essential only”. To change your choice later, clear the GoDoctor site data in your browser (which removes the stored
om-cookie-consentvalue) and the banner will appear again on your next visit. - Your browser — most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage in their settings. Blocking strictly-necessary storage may stop parts of the Service from working (for example, staying signed in or keeping your theme).
Withdrawing consent stops further non-essential/analytics storage; it does not undo processing already carried out.
Third-party cookies
Some services we rely on to run the platform — such as our payment processor (Paystack) and our video infrastructure (LiveKit) — may set their own cookies or storage when their features are in use, governed by their own policies. Where these are non-essential, they are engaged only consistent with your consent. See our Privacy Policy for who we work with and how we handle your data.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. When we make a material change we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where the change affects non-essential cookies, ask for your consent again. For more on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
