Acceptance & eligibility
GoDoctor is operated by Innoedge Technologies Limited (“GoDoctor”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company incorporated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (RC [RC number]), with its registered office at [registered address]. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and us.
By creating an account, booking a consultation, or otherwise using the GoDoctor mobile apps, website or services (together, the “Service”), you confirm that you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy and our Medical Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years oldto hold a GoDoctor account. You may use the Service on behalf of a minor or another person for whom you are the parent or legal guardian only where you have the authority to consent to care and to share that person’s information; in that case you accept these Terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use of the Service.
What GoDoctor is (and is not)
GoDoctor is a technology platform and intermediary. It connects users in Nigeria with independent, MDCN-verified medical practitioners (registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria) and with independent, PCN-licensed pharmacies (licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria), and facilitates related services such as video, audio and chat consultations, e-prescriptions, medicine delivery, at-home lab sample collection, nurse home visits and HMO claim submission.
GoDoctor does not practise medicine
GoDoctor itself does not provide medical care, does not practise medicine, does not operate a pharmacy and does not dispense medicines. We do not employ the doctors or pharmacists you consult through the Service; they are independent professionals and businesses responsible for their own clinical and dispensing decisions. GoDoctor provides the technology that connects you and handles scheduling, communication and payment facilitation.
The availability of any particular provider, service, medicine or delivery area is not guaranteed and may change. The Service is not a substitute for emergency care — see our Medical Disclaimer.
Your account & responsibilities
To use most features you must create an account and provide accurate, current and complete information. You are responsible for:
- keeping your login credentials confidential and not sharing your account;
- all activity that occurs under your account, and for promptly telling us of any unauthorised use;
- providing accurate medical history, symptoms and other information to the provider treating you — clinical decisions depend on it; and
- ensuring that anyone you book on behalf of (a child or dependant) consents, where they are able to, to the care provided.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
The patient–provider relationship
Any doctor, pharmacist, nurse, laboratory or other healthcare professional you engage through GoDoctor is an independent provider. The professional relationship — including diagnosis, advice, treatment, prescribing and dispensing — is solely between you and that provider. No doctor–patient or pharmacist–patient relationship is formed between you and GoDoctor.
The treating provider is responsible for the care they deliver and is subject to the professional standards and regulation of their governing body (the MDCN for doctors, the PCN for pharmacists, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for nurses). GoDoctor does not control, direct or interfere with a provider’s independent clinical judgement and is not responsible or liable for any clinical decision, advice, diagnosis, prescription, treatment or outcome provided by a professional you consult through the Service.
We take reasonable steps to verify that doctors hold a current MDCN registration and that pharmacies hold a current PCN licence before they are listed. Verification is a check at the platform level; it is not a warranty of the quality, suitability or outcome of any care, and you remain responsible for the decisions you make with your provider.
Fees, payments & refunds
The fees for consultations, medicines, lab tests, nurse visits and other services are shown in the app before you confirm. Prices are in Nigerian Naira (₦) and, unless stated otherwise, are inclusive of applicable taxes.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Paystack. We do not store your full card details; those are handled by Paystack in accordance with its own terms and security standards. By paying, you authorise the relevant charge and agree to Paystack’s processing of your payment data as described in our Privacy Policy.
Refunds & cancellations
- Consultations you may cancel for a full refund up to the point a provider has accepted and the session is due to begin. Once a consultation has taken place, the fee is generally non-refundable, because the professional service has been delivered.
- Medicines that have been dispensed cannot, for safety and regulatory reasons, be returned or refunded once delivery has commenced, except where the item is incorrect, damaged or defective.
- Lab tests and nurse visitsmay be rescheduled or cancelled for a refund up to a reasonable cut-off before the booked time, as shown at booking; late cancellations or no-shows may incur a charge to cover the provider’s costs.
Where a refund is due, it is returned to your original payment method via Paystack within the timeframe stated in the app. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at [email protected].
Telemedicine consent
By booking a remote consultation you consent to receiving care by telemedicine — that is, by video, audio or chat rather than in person. You understand that:
- telemedicine has inherent limitations: a remote provider cannot physically examine you, and the absence of a physical examination may affect what can be assessed;
- the provider may determine that your condition is not suitable for remote care and may advise an in-person visit, a referral or emergency attendance;
- technical issues (connectivity, audio or video failure) may interrupt or prevent a consultation; and
- consultation records, where retained, are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
You may withdraw consent to telemedicine at any time, though this may mean a consultation cannot proceed.
Acceptable use & prohibited conduct
You agree that you will not:
- use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose, or to obtain medicines or services for resale or for someone other than the patient identified;
- provide false identity, medical or payment information, or impersonate another person or a healthcare professional;
- misuse, harass, threaten or abuse a provider or member of our staff;
- attempt to access, probe, scrape, disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service, or circumvent its security or access controls;
- upload malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory or infringing; or
- record or redistribute a consultation without the provider’s consent.
We may investigate and take action — including suspending or removing access — for any breach.
Prescriptions & controlled substances
A prescription is issued only where an independent, MDCN-verified prescriber, exercising their own clinical judgement, considers it clinically appropriate. GoDoctor does not issue prescriptions and cannot guarantee that any consultation will result in one.
Prescribing and dispensing are subject to Nigerian law and to the rules of the MDCN, the PCN and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). Certain medicines — including controlled substances and others restricted by law — may not be prescribed or dispensed remotely, or may require additional verification, in-person assessment or documentation. Providers and pharmacies may decline to prescribe or dispense where they judge it clinically inappropriate or unlawful, and you must not seek to obtain such medicines improperly through the Service.
Intellectual property
The Service, including the GoDoctor name and logo, software, design, text, graphics and other content (excluding your content and content owned by providers or third parties), is owned by or licensed to Innoedge Technologies Limited and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended personal purpose.
You retain ownership of the information and content you submit, but you grant us a licence to use it as needed to operate and provide the Service (for example, to route your information to your treating provider and to process your bookings and payments), as further described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Not for emergencies
GoDoctor is not an emergency service. In a medical emergency, call 112 or 199 or go to the nearest hospital. See our Medical Disclaimer.
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.
Because GoDoctor is a platform and not a healthcare provider, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, advice, diagnoses, prescriptions or treatment of any independent provider, pharmacy, laboratory or courier you engage through the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid to us for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim in the three (3) months before the event, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Innoedge Technologies Limited, its officers, employees and agents from and against any claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party.
Suspension & termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice where reasonable — if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the safety or rights of users, providers or the public. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law) will survive.
Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Dispute resolution
If a dispute arises, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it amicably. If it cannot be resolved within thirty (30) days, the parties agree to attempt resolution by good-faith negotiation and, failing that, by mediation or arbitration in Nigeria in accordance with the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, before resorting to litigation. The courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any matter not so resolved. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
